Its goal to help young children of Senegal and as it grows; develop other actions throughout Africa to help young people.
Babac’Ards
It is a name that includes Boris’ middle name, Babacar (Senegalese name) and a few letters stating for
:
Association to Realize Development based on international Solidarity.
To reach its goals, Babac’Ards offers to:
- Create partnerships with existing association, government institutions, NGOs and other groups that invest into helping the local youth,
- Facilitate the access to professional training for the local representatives of the association and the children of Senegal,
- Favor education and development by implementing programs based on environmental issues, civil responsibilities, wellness and health awareness...
Following the world Championships in Japan, Babac’Ards has successfully organized its basketball camp in Dakar, on location at Bopp Basketball. Thanks to this partnership with the club’s president Papa Daly Ndiaye, Babac’Ards has hosted, for free, 120 kids for 2 days of clinics under Boris’ supervision and some coaches.
To ensure the success of the camp, Babac’Ards has brought in the necessary supplies that were left on site so the local youth are now able to use them all year long; balls, reversible, shoes and some costly technical products are now at the academy. Following some brainstorming with the academy’s director, we’ve decided to pledge financial support to resurface two outdoor courts as well as a multi-sport gym.
On one of his numerous trips to Senegal, Boris visited an orphanage, «L’empire des enfants ». Babac’Ards has taken advantage of this recent trip to help by donating much needed supplies such as rice, oils, pots and pants, fridge, mattresses, blankets, toothbrushes and toothpaste, soap, bleach, shoes, clothing and much more.
The location where these ‘street kids’ live is a former open air theater which is a huge problem during the rain season. We have asked for quotes to build a dry room or tent. This particular project is the next work of the association.
For our future project, we can now rely on the support of:
M. El Hadj Daouda FAYE, Ministry of Sport, M. Alioune Badara DIAGNE, President of the Senegalese Basketball Federation M. Abdoulaye BALDE, First secretary to the President M. Mamadou Diagna NDIAYE, President of the National Olympic Committee
Strong contacts have been established with local figures of the sports and basketball in particular to create a long lasting event, inclusive of others NBA players. More actions and events will take place throughout 2007. Don’t hesitate to contact us for more information.
