With 13.5 points at 52% shooting, 6,9 rebounds and 6 assists per game after 76 games, Boris manages to ear a spot in the starting five in one of the franchise chasing the NBA title.
On January 31st, 2006, Boris became the first French player to complete a triple-double in the NBA; against the Philadelphia Sixers (Suns’ win 123-99). He scores 14 points, delivers 13 assists and grabs 11 rebounds in 39 minutes. The new Suns’ gem will duplicate this performance four times throughout the regular season. Thus, it is only logical that Boris earned the title of NBA’s Most Improved Player.
Having played brilliantly on the playoffs, Boris managed to make the fans forget about Amare Stoudemire’s injury, The third best scorer in the league in the 04-05 season missed the entire 05-06 season due to a knee injury. Before Game 2 of the Western Conference final against Dallas, « Bobo » showed some exceptional statistics in his first NBA playoffs ever: 17,5 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, 5.8 assists while shooting 53,3%. At the end of the finals he is the best scorer of the series, ahead of the reining double times MVP Steve Nash and Shawn Marion (another potential player for the MVP 2006 title) with 24,8 points for 50 % shooting. Despite all his best efforts, Phoenix loses on the steps of the NBA Finals 4-2 against Dallas.
